Nebraska Radio History Archive Presentation:

The Golden (oldies) Child

Technically, KOOL is the newest station in Lincoln by format.  105.3 is the former home of Froggy 105, who moved to it's 98.1 "Big Stick" in 1996.
KFGE got their new frequency, simulcast for a week, then turned 105.3 over to the studio across the hall and began programming Oldies.
Despite the recent failure of longtime "Oldies 95" (KLDZ)  KOOL 105 has taken hold of the oldies market in Lincoln.
At the same time KOOL was going on the air, Lincoln was introducing their new hockey team, the Lincoln Stars.   KOOL became the broadcast home of the Stars Games.  A new station for a New team, both successful.  The station has maintained it's Oldies format and presence since sign-on.

In September of 2005, KOOL 105.3 repositioned themselves as "Linc 105", with an oldies format geared more towards music from the '70's.

KOOL is operated out of Broadcast House which is also home to Triad's KLIN (NewsRadio 1400), KFGE (Froggy 98) , and KBBK (B 107.3).
